  • Henny’s Kids Raised funds in 2017 to purchase and install a solar panel to electrify one classroom. Other donors followed, contributing enough money to purchase solar panels for the entire school.

Ngamo School, Zimbabwe

As a primary school, Ngamo offers kindergarten plus grades one through seven and educates about 380 students ages 4 to 13. Located in Ngamo Village near the border of Hwange National Park, the school is about a 40-minute drive from Linkwasha Camp.

  • Ngamo School became the first school in Zimbabwe to have student computers as a result of Henny’s Kids May 2018 donation.

  • Six teachers undertook a 2-day, intensive course in the use of OLPC computers led by an OLPC trainer as part of the computer handover. Henny’s Kids covered the airfare and the trainer’s fee while Children in the Wilderness provided ground transportation and lodging.

  • The teachers receive follow-up assistance by email and phone from OLPC trainers.

  • Henny’s Kids receives monthly progress reports from a teacher liaison on how the students and teachers utilize the computers.

We continue to raise funds for additional laptops and training.
